Torelli wanted to make a better mouse trap. They didn't cut corners and make the serious buyer buy cheap stock parts and then pay for the ones they wanted in the first place. The good stuff is included on the bike at the factory, when the total cost is lowest: sealed bearings in the hubs, an elegant treated leather saddle, on a sweet double-butted chrome-moly steel frame. It's ready to please and impress right out of the box. You even get your choice of handlebar type (bullhorn or drop, with correct brake levers installed) and width (40, 42 or 44cm). As an example of the thought that went into this bike, they even used a square-taper bottom bracket because it's easier to get replacement track cranks (if you want to).
A look at the geometry chart will show that the Tipo Uno has relaxed geometry for a track bike, making it suitable for the road. The retro-panel paint, non-obtrusive (removable!) decals and leather accessories recall another time when all the world was bike mad and the urban speed demons, called "Scorchers", were riders on fixed-gear bikes. But make no mistake, The frame and parts that make up the Tipo Uno are pure 2008.
Frame and fork: The frame is double-butted chrome-moly steel, tig welded. The rear dropouts have integral rear dropout adjusters for perfect chain tension easily. The top tube is 28mm and the downtube is 32mm in diameter.The fork is threadless with straight blades brazed into an investment cast fork crown. The head tube is 1 1/8" diameter. Bottom bracket threading is English.
Wheels: Torelli 36-hole sealed bearing track hubs are laced with stainless 2.0 (14 gauge) spoke onto Alex DA22 double-walled rims. Dual threads on the hub ("flip-flop") means you can run fixed or freewheel. Tires are 700 x 25.
